Antonio joins us from Brazil, via Portugal and Switzerland, where he was born and went to school. However, while his diverse international background and experience are quite typical of team NEO, the interesting thing about Antonio is his sense of purpose.
When life picked up pace after his studies, Antonio had to grow up quickly, and “get serious” as he put it. He donned a tie, put on his best professional front, grabbed his MBA in digital marketing and marched into the corporate world.
Though he did the thing we often feel we should do when looking for stability and a career, he quickly learned that there was something missing. While most would stay and climb the ladder, Antonio decided that should not have to choose between his desire to find purpose in his work, and his need to build a career.
He joined a health clinic in Rio de Janeiro, which worked with families in the favelas and offered the most accessible and affordable healthcare in the city. Word needed to spread faster of this service, and Antonio worked hard to automate processes, boost visibility, build presence and work with communities that other providers had left aside.
“When you help someone, you both change”, Antonio told us, as he spoke with love of his time there. So what changed for Antonio?
When we met, he told us that he felt uneasy at the tendency he had seen of marketing agencies to “charge clients for something they could do themselves”. He was also looking for something new which would challenge him, but not push him to compromise on his values. NEO’s position as a values-driven consultancy, which empowers its clients to move ahead on their own terms, was something that appealed to the surfer in Antonio.
“The best way to help someone learn is to just give them a push onto that first wave, and to see them ride it on their own”. We couldn’t agree more. You will meet Antonio on board as he supports your organization to automate and streamline your own digital marketing structures. Where you go from there, is up to you.
